THE REGULATIONS

Read very carefully before applying


ART. 1 - ORGANISATION
The competition is organised by Gorizia Fiere and promoted by Mittelmoda International Lab in
collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.

ART. 2 - APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The competition is open to the following categories:
a) students in their last year at college (undergraduate and post-graduate level) who will graduate (orget a Diploma) in 2006 as fashion designers.
b) certified fashion designers or those who, although not in possession of a diploma in
fashion design, work as fashion designers for their own or other fashion companies.

ART. 3 - ENTRIES
All candidates must send the following by 22 May 2006 :
a) the application form typed out in every part, undersigned and complete with a personal
passport size photograph
. If the application form is missing participation will be denied;
b) an undersigned copy of these regulations;
c) a well-bound portfolio in A4 (cm 21x29,7) format containing:
    ・the drawings - in two copies (or coloured photocopies) - of a minimum of 5 outfits
     with overleaf specifications of personal data (name and surname of the designer) and
     complete technical description. Each single drawing of the outfits must be numbered;
    ・ concept of the collection;
    ・ colour details and fabric samples;
    ・ detailed CV (typed in Italian or English);
    ・ for students: a photocopy of the degree (if already in possession of the candidate) or a
     certificate proving they are attending college. For fashion designers: a certificate proving
     they are actually working as professional designers, for their own or otherfashioncompanies
    ・ any article and/or feature about the participant appeared on magazine/s (if any)
    ・ personal promotional cards and business cards (optional)
It is also possible to send personalised presentations differing from the required one but only as additionalmaterial;
d) a CD-Rom with the candidate’s name in evidence containing photographs and/or images of
  the enrolled collection
or of those previously created in digital format; it will be compulsory to
  create two separate folders which will have to be clearly labelled 72 dpi and 300 dpi, in the first
  one (72 dpi) you will save images of the sketches at 72dpi resolution (not higher, not lower) and
  approximately 10x10 cm, while in the other one (300 dpi) you will save the same images at 300   dpi (not higher, not lower) and approximately 30x30 cm. In the cd_rom you will also save a digital
  passport photo; a copy of the CV; any additional material that might be considered interesting   of your work and style.
e) Optional: 1 prototype of the most representative outfit of the nrolledcollection;anystyle,material,
  support and technique can be used. Maximum height 50 cm.

If any of the above items is missing, participation will be denied.
All material must reach our offices by 22 May 2006.

The organisation invites participants sending their entries by courier or by priority mail: to specify that the content of the packages is documents in order to limit custom inspections, not to declare more than 25 Euros for the packages’ value in any case, to declare always responsibility for any possible custom fees by ticking the apposite space in the shipment document. Please follow precisely these instructions because Mittelmoda Organisation won’t be allowed to undertake the payment for the custom fees and will have to refuse the package.

In case of selection, all material (sketches, photos etc.) sent by the applicants will be used to edit the catalogue of the event, and all the participants’ portfolios will be possibly used to introduce them to fashion houses willing to meet new designers as well as for communicational and promotional purposes with the press at international level.

ART. 4 - OUTFITS ENTERED
CREATION_The garments presented for the competition must correspond exactly to the drawings and to the specifications enrolled and must be made by the designers themselves. Correct and accurate execution of the garments is essential.
SIZE_The OUTFITS presented must be: MEN'S Italian size 48/50 WOMEN'S Italian size 40/42

Corresponding measures in inches and centimetres:

     The SHOES presented must be: MAN: US 10 / UK 9 WOMAN: US 7 / UK 6
FABRICS_Any fabric or material may be used.
STYLE_Designers may choose among the following styles (collections may also have more than        one style):high-fashion, ready-to-wear, avant-garde/experimental, street style, jeun          createur.
SEASON_The participants are free to choose the season they prefer.
EXCLUSION-CONTROVERSIES_ If garments are not made according to the Regulations, the Organisation reserves the right to exclude them from the competition. The resolution of any possible controversy will be dealt with by an arbitral board consisting of one member from each party and a third member appointed by the Presiding Judge of Gorizia.

ART. 5 - SELECTIONS
In June, a jury will examine all material sent. The results will be promptly published online on
www.mittelmoda.com under the news section and all selected candidates will be immediately informed and sent a detailed programme, with information regarding their stay during Mittelmoda. It is responsibility of each participant to provide complete contact numbers and inform the contest’s organisers of any change.

Selected candidates will be invited to take part to the finals and will be asked to create their
collections to show them on Mittelmoda’s catwalk in a collective fashion show scheduled for 16th
September 2006. All the candidates are informed that, in case of selection for the finals of the competition, they might be asked to promptly provide the organisers with one or two photographs of outfits belonging to the collection enrolled in the competition and/or of any other photographic, video or multimedia material according to the timing and needs requested by the organisers themselves being the signing of these regulations binding in this sense. The organisation reserves the right to exclude any selected contestant from participation if he/she/them don’t respect the above-mentioned rule. All the works enrolled by the finalists in the contest will be presented to the jury and submitted to their judging for the awarding of the prizes. In case of necessity, either to respect the guidelines of the Fashion Show’s Director or to meet the availability of the models, the Organisation reserves the possibility to decide the exact and ultimate number of outfits per finalist to be showcased on the catwalk and, in case a choice is needed, it will respect the suggestions of the finalists as much as possible. Candidates are therefore asked to specify the number of the enrolled sketches and to indicate clearly the menswear and the womenswear ones.

Contestants will have to hand in their collections upon their arrival at Mittelmoda 2006 location; each outfit will have to be hung on a hanger (with corresponding name and surname) in a plastic dress cover (with corresponding name and surname) together with a photo and/or a sketch of the same outfit.

ART. 6 - JURY AND PRIZES
Mittelmoda_the fashion award’s jury will include renowned national and international fashion experts. Judging criteria will include: creativity, internationality and feasibility. The correct execution of the items in accordance with the Regulations will also be taken in consideration.

The Jury will award a first and a second cash prize for the best collections:

1ST PRIZE MITTELMODA AWARD OF EURO 8000

2ND PRIZE OF EURO 4000

And the following Special Prizes:

a) Most Evolved Design Process Award of Euro 3000 Euro + stage and lodging at the design
  studios of the group in Istanbul offered by LTB BY LITTLEBIG_CAK GROUP
b) Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana Award (Italian National Fashion Board Award) of
  Euro2500 for the most creative collection, offered by CAMERA NAZIONALE DELLA
  MODAITALIANA.

c) Vesti di Cotone Award of Euro 2500 for the best interpretation of the characteristics of
  Cotton,offered by FONDAZIONE INDUSTRIE COTONE LINO. The students who are
  interested in this award can contact Mittelmoda’s Secretariat to receive samples of fabrics
  and, in case of selection, to receive the fabrics to make their collection (maximum quantity of
  metres to be decided with the supplier).
d) Masters of Linen Award of Euro 2500 for the best interpretation of the characteristics of
  Linen, offered by CENTRO LINO ITALIANO. The selected students can contact ittelmoda’s
  Secretariat toreceive a sample book of fabrics offered by Centro Lino Italiano to create their    collection, for a maximum of 20 metres.
e) Missoni Award of Euro 2000 + stage of 3 months in the company’s offices offered by
  MISSONI SPA for the most innovative knitwear designer.
f) Furla Award of Euro 2000 offered by FURLA SPA, for the most innovative collection in
  concept,functionality, aesthetics, and in the fabrics’ experimentation.
g) Shirt Avenue Award of Euro 1000 _offered by CONSORZIO PRODUTTORI ITALIANI
  TESSUTI PER CAMICERIA
, for the best interpretation of the shirt.
h) Otago Polytechnic Scholarship Award, roundtrip tick. + 8 weeks scholarship (to be taken
  before November 2006) for the collection which shows innovation in the use of materials and
  methods offered by OTAGO POLYTECHNIC Dunedin_New Zealand
i) WGSN Award_ a single user free access to the website www.wgsn.com for a whole year to the
  designer winning the 1st Mittelmoda Prize.
Other Special Prizes might be added in the months to come and, in this case, either promptly
communicated through the official Mittelmoda’s website - www.mittelmoda.com - and announced
to the Colleges’ Professors and PRs by the Organisation.
  Please note that in case of internships and collaborations offered by fashion
  houses andcompanies, either by those which are members of the Mittelmoda
  International Lab and byothers which are not, Mittelmoda will offer its support
  and collaboration for the best management of the contacts and agreements
  between the parts but it will not be responsible of problems or dissatisfactions
  which might be faced by the parts themselves.

ART. 7 - ACCOMMODATION EXPENSES
Mittelmoda will pay for the accommodation expenses for each single participant, according to the
programme. Participants will have to pay for their travel expenses personally but they will receive a partial refund upon their arrival in Gorizia. They will pay for all other expenses personally. In case a group of two or more participants enters the competition, Mittelmoda will pay for the accommodation expenses of not more than 2 persons per group.

ART. 8 - OWNERSHIP OF THE GARMENTS
All the garments will remain property of the participants, though Mittelmoda reserves all publishing rights. Besides, the Organisation, upon their authorization, reserves the right to keep the garments and the material sent by the finalists for a maximum of six months, to submit them to the examination of fashion houses, for fashion shows, for press and television features, for exhibitions or other possible occasions aiming at promoting both the event and the designers.

ART. 9 - RESPONSIBILITIES
Gorizia Trade Fair cannot be held responsible for any damage or theft of garments or designs that may occur during transport, selections, the show in Grado_Gorizia or different location, or during the period in which the garments are kept (see Article 8).

ART. 10 - FASHION SHOW

The final award fashion show will take place in Gorizia on Saturday 16th September 2006, unless the programme or the location are modified in which case contestants will be promptly informed by the organisers.

ART. 11 - ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Participants are requested to arrive in Grado on Thursaday 14th September 2006 (the date of arrival might be anticipated to Wednesday 13th September due to travel reasons); departures should be scheduled for Sunday 17th September 2006. Designers selected for the competition will be sent detailed programmes and information on the event immediately after the selections.

ART. 12 - ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS
The undersigning of these regulations and of the related application form implies their full acceptance (art. 1-12).
